If you've never tried one, they're a blast! I never really got into mountain biking, but on a fatbike I'm in my element. They completely transform your experience of biking on trails.
One thing I find interesting is that I'd always thought fatbikes were a fairly niche item, of interest mainly to the experienced mountain bike/adventure race cognoscenti, but when I ride one around town, heads turn.
I was also astonished to find that you can even buy a ready made Surly Pugsley from REI, of all places! They even have the shiny yellow 2013 models. If fatbikes are hitting the mainstream stores in the USA, I wonder how long it will be before we find them in Intersport?
